Volunteers are an essential part of our care team at Compassionate Hospice Care.
Your time is needed and valued. You may choose to serve in a variety of ways. Volunteers provide:
REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer at least 2x/ month,
We work with your schedule and availability.
Complete a Background check
(no charge to you)
Complete a TB skin test
Required for volunteers who work directly with patients.
Complete Orientation and Training

Volunteers are an essential part of our care team at Compassionate Hospice Care.
Your time is needed and valued. You may choose to serve in a variety of ways. Volunteers provide:
- Patient Companionship: Visiting patients and providing them companionship wherever they live, at home, an assisted living or a skilled nursing facility. This may include reading, writing letters, listening to their stories, playing cards, going outside, listening to music or simply sitting with them.
- Therapeutic Touch: Holding someone’s hand, whether or not they are able to respond. Being present with a patient, seeing them.
- Massage or Comfort Touch: Providing relaxation and stress relief to patient or family member by giving gentle massage.
- Caregiver Respite: Sit with a patient so their caregiver receives a break.
- Light Housework or Errand Running
- Pet Therapy: Trained volunteers visit patients with a dog that has passed the canine good citizen test.
- Music Therapy: Play music or sing in order to bring comfort and connection to a patient.
- Administrative Assistance: Assist staff with filing, scanning, mailing, and other office tasks.
- Bereavement support: Work with the Bereavement Coordinator and support families who have lost a loved one.
