WE LOVE VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are an essential part of our care team at Compassionate Hospice Care.
Your time is needed and valued.  You may choose to serve in a variety of ways.  Volunteers provide:
  • Patient Companionship:  Visiting patients and providing them companionship wherever they live, at home, an assisted living or a skilled nursing facility.  This may include reading, writing letters, listening to their stories, playing cards, going outside, listening to music or simply sitting with them.
  • Therapeutic Touch:  Holding someone’s hand, whether or not they are able to respond.  Being present with a patient, seeing them.
  • Massage or Comfort Touch:  Providing relaxation and stress relief to patient or family member by giving gentle massage.
  • Caregiver Respite: Sit with a patient so their caregiver receives a break.
  • Light Housework or Errand Running
  • Pet Therapy:  Trained volunteers visit patients with a dog that has passed the canine good citizen test.
  • Music Therapy: Play music or sing in order to bring comfort and connection to a patient.
  • Administrative Assistance:  Assist staff with filing, scanning, mailing, and other office tasks.
  • Bereavement support:  Work with the Bereavement Coordinator and support families who have lost a loved one.
